Venue: All games will be played at Rodney Green Arena Hawkes Bay (Pettigrew Green Arena and Rodney Green Foundation Arena), 480 Gloucester Street, Taradale

Date & Times: Tuesday 14, 21, 28 Oct, 4, 11, 18, 25 Nov, 2 Dec  2025

Games played between 4pm - 9pm 

First week will be grading. Please note VBHB reserves the right to promote or demote teams within divisions if they feel teams have been incorrectly graded so that we can provide good competition in all divisions.

Team Membership Fee 2025  $ 78.75 per team (Paid ONCE per calendar year*)

*Membership Fee - if your team competed in our Term 1 competition you will not be charged in Term 4

Entries: Secondary Schools Main Contacts will be emailed information to register teams in Term 3, however you can also enter online 

Entries close 5pm on Friday 19th September 2025

Late Entry - VBHB reserves the right to refuse late entries. If a late entry is accepted a $50 fee may apply. Teams withdrawn after closing date may be charged $100 withdrawal fee. ​​​​​​​

COMPETITION RULES AND REGULATIONS

Division 1 and 2.

Playing: Play 2 games, best of 3 sets (one week 2 games, next week 1 game and 1 duty or vice versa). 12 players maximum per team for all divisions. Mixed gender teams from div 2 down are welcome, they are to play in the Boys divisions only

EligibilityAll Players must be bona fide students from the school they represent.

Local referee Course: It is compulsory for at least 2 players from Div 1 and Div 2 to attend a Local referee course on date and venue to be confirmed.

Duty requirements: Full team duty is required. Teams must supply a competent referee and scorer who has been provided guidance by the coach or school personnel.  All uniforms must be regulations - Playing tops to be numbered front and back. Please provide your own whistle.

Person in charge of team: Each team must have a person in charge to supervise the team.

Subs: The 12-substitution rule applies.

Timeouts: 2 x 30sec timeout per team per set.

Results: Submit all completed scoresheets including signatures.

For Divisions  3, 4 & 5/Social

Playing: Play 2 games x 30min each.  12 players maximum per team for all divisions. Mixed gender teams from div 2 down are welcome, they are to play in the Boys divisions only

EligibilityAll Players must be bona fide students from the school they represent.

Duty requirements: Each team must provide a person capable of refereeing and know the rules of the game. Please provide your own whistle.

Person in charge of teams: Each team must have a person in charge to supervise the team.

Subs: Unlimited substitutions at any time (run on/off).

Time Outs: Two 30 second time-outs per set permitted.

Results: Winners are determined by sets won. If teams finish with the same number of sets, then it goes back to points. Always play till the buzzer sounds. If points are equal, then it is a draw. Please Note - If a team has scored 15 or more points in the last set, that is counted as a set. Please fill in all parts of the score sheets so that results can be recorded. This is the referee/duty persons responsibility.

Defaults: If a team has to default for any reason, it will be recorded as a loss against that team.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS AND SPECTATORS

Safety

Balls may only be used on the courts when you have a scheduled match. No balls to be played within the RGA foyer, upstairs, in the RGA carpark or on the side of the courts while games are in play. Please DO NOT take the balls off the allocated courts as they are needed for the following games. Please DO NOT play on any spare courts.

Conduct

Players are not to loiter in the car parks or toilet/change facilities.  No one is to enter RGA Courts until their game is scheduled to be played. Only players, coaches and managers are allowed onto the RGA courts.  No music players/Speakers. There will be minimal changeover in court time. Please make your way to your courts and be ready to start on time. As soon as your games are finished, please make your way out of the court area for the next game to commence. Division 1 and 2 teams move to your court if you are required to duty. ​​​​​​​

Spectators

All spectators and non-playing teams must be upstairs if you are in the Pettigrew Green Arena. The Rodney Green Foundation Arena has orange spectator’s seats or standing areas. You will be advised by VBHB staff where spectators will be allowed to stand. NO playing with sports equipment while spectating!
