Local Indoor Referee

Volleyball Hawkes Bay offers a Local Referee Course designed to give participants the knowledge and confidence to referee a school volleyball match. This 1–2 hour course covers the basics of refereeing, including the roles of 1st Referee, 2nd Referee, and how to complete a score sheet. The course is compulsory for Division 1 and 2 Secondary School Competitions and strongly encouraged for Divisions 3–5. Before attending, candidates must complete the online module through Volleyball New Zealand (registration link below). On completion, referees will receive a certificate from Volleyball NZ, recognising the online course component of their qualification. This course is an excellent pathway to gain practical refereeing skills and support the growth of school volleyball in Hawkes Bay.

Regional Indoor Referee

Indoor volleyball referee workshop
Practical observation while refereeing oficial games
In person indoor referee course

This exam covers everything you need to know to be a qualified regional referee. Please note that you still need to do a regional referee workshop with your local association to get the regional referee qualification. There are 4 Sections to this exam. You must score 66% in each section to pass and 70% overall. This is a CLOSED book

National Indoor Referee

National Referee Course
1 day theory followed by assessments during IPC or Club Championships.
Must be an active referee at Zone level (Preferably for at least 2 years).
Must get approval from their association
This qualification will meet compliance to Referee at all levels of VNZ

This online referee workshop is led by Mary Kerekere who is our National Referee Development Manager. There are 4 sections to this national referee workshop. Sections 1-3 are composed of videos which covers detailed subjects regarding refereeing. There is about 4 and a half hours worth of videos for you to watch and take notes and we recommend you dividing the workload into a couple of days.
